Alnwick Playhouse
In August 2018, Alnwick Playhouse, one of the leading small venues in the North of England, closed its doors for refurbishment and restoration works. The historic Playhouse reopened in January 2019.
The Alnwick Playhouse Trust had consulted with several users groups, including a local dementia group, about how to improve the building to support the community’s older demographic. The Trust was keen to incorporate the new inclusive pictograms and Any Disability symbol into the building’s wayfinding scheme.
Alnwick Playhouse manager Jo Potts said, “From the positive feedback and easy flow of audiences around the building, it is evident that we have got the signage right, it really does enhance the visitor experience. Our investment in the signage will continue to benefit our audiences of all age groups and abilities for years to come and that makes us extremely proud.”
